The Wizard of Skate is more than just a fun name — it’s a philosophy, a character, and a teaching approach rooted in one of the most beloved stories of all time.

Just like Dorothy on her journey to see the Wizard of Oz — with the Tin Man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow by her side — every learner who steps onto a board is on their own adventure. Dorothy and her friends believed they needed something from the Wizard, only to discover they had it within them all along. That’s exactly what the Wizard of Skate is here to show you: the courage, balance, and belief you’re looking for? It’s already inside you.

Years ago, Tom — founder of The Skate Farm — dreamed up a magical teacher who could help kids (and grown-ups!) learn more than just tricks. He wanted to create a figure who would remind every learner that they can do it — with patience, encouragement, and a little bit of magic. That idea became the Wizard: a mentor, a guide, and your biggest cheerleader in one.

Whether it’s one-on-one lessons, group sessions, or festival fun, the Wizard brings the same energy every time: positivity, kindness, and the belief that everyone can learn to skate, no matter where they’re starting from. Boards, scooters, inlines, or quads — it’s all part of the Wizard’s world.

And when Tom hits the road for events, he swaps the Skate Farm hoodie for a wizard’s hat. At festivals like Gloworm and others across the UK, the Wizard of Skate becomes the face of our pop-up coaching, spreading joy, confidence, and just the right amount of sparkle.

But here’s something important to know:
At Skate Farm, the Wizard isn’t just Tom. He’s trained an amazing team of coaches in the same supportive, empowering style. So whether you’re being coached by Tom or someone else, you’ll still feel that same magic.

How to book

Booking is simple — just head to our booking site and purchase a block of 6 Wizard of Skate lessons. Once you’ve booked, show us your confirmation email at the park. You’ll get a lesson card that gets stamped each time you attend. When it’s full, you simply buy another block and keep rolling forward.

We’re also updating the website to make all this even clearer — but for now, everything you need to get started is in the booking system.
