Skate Farm lands £30k to go greener than ever

Aug 1, 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that our Ride to Recharge project has officially secured £30,000 in funding from the British Gas Energy for Tomorrow fund. This will power a range of upgrades that make The Farm more sustainable — and keep costs lower for the community.

Big news — we’ve just locked in a £30,000 funding package from British Gas to supercharge The Skate Farm’s eco mission.

The funding comes from their Energy for Tomorrow scheme, and will go directly toward our Ride to Recharge project — including solar panels on the roof and Pavegen energy tiles that generate electricity from footsteps. These upgrades are designed to make The Farm cleaner, greener and future-ready.

Here’s why it matters:

  • We currently use around 36,520 kWh of energy per year

  • That creates roughly 7 tonnes of CO₂ annually

  • With these upgrades, we’re set to cut emissions by 20 tonnes over time

  • We’ll also save around £2,000 each year on energy bills

It’s a major step forward in our long-term vision to grow sustainably — not just as a skatepark, but as a community hub with a lighter environmental footprint.

Thanks to Stevie and his son Marley for stopping in and helping spark the conversation. With planning now underway, we’ll be rolling out these changes soon — and this is just the beginning.

The Skate Farm continues to grow organically, powered by the community it serves.
