The Skate Farm is going solar!
Aug 1, 2025
We’re about to become the first indoor skatepark in the UK to switch to solar power — and it’s all thanks to your support, British Gas, and a little bit of community magic.
Big news from The Skate Farm — we’re going greener.
Thanks to a chance conversation between Stevie and his son Marley, we’ve secured up to £30,000 matched funding deal from British Gas, through their Tomorrow Fund energy-saving scheme. This will allow us to power the park more sustainably, installing solar panels to reduce energy use and operating costs.

Here’s why it matters:
We currently use around 36,520 kWh of energy per year
That creates roughly 7 tonnes of CO₂ annually
With these upgrades, we’re set to cut emissions by 20 tonnes over time
We’ll also save around £2,000 each year on energy bills
Before that funding is unlocked, we need to raise £10,000 ourselves. Once we hit that target, British Gas will match it with up to £30K of their own!
This project is a huge opportunity — not just to lower our bills, but to reinvest in the things that matter most: better sessions, new ramps, equipment upgrades, and community-led events. It’s all part of how we’re growing organically with the people we serve.
We’ll be announcing fundraising events at The Skate Farm soon, including a few fun charity sessions, so keep your eyes peeled. Every bit of support — big or small — helps get us there.
Thanks to Stevie and his son Marley for stopping in and helping spark the conversation!
