Dropping in for Lewis: Eden’s Big Weekender & Our Summer BBQ

Jul 22, 2025

July’s been a special one at The Skate Farm, filled with new faces, heartfelt stories, and exciting community events. Let’s rewind and look back at two unforgettable weekends!

Eden’s Big Weekender

We were proud to be invited to the Eden Shopping Centre’s Big Weekender on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July to help celebrate with their customers. We brought our mobile mini ramp, our coaches, and a load of good energy to run free beginner skateboarding workshops for kids all weekend.

💬 “We had around 200 young riders over two days, with 95% of them stepping on a skateboard for the first time,” said Tom, who led the event. “The average age was six. It was just beautiful to see their confidence grow.”

Every session was buzzing with excitement, laughter, and high-fives. Whether they were cruising across the ramp or taking their first wobbly push, the kids gave it their all.

“Tom was so patient, encouraging and fun that before they knew it, they were trying something totally out of their comfort zone and having a great time at it!
Wish we had skate places like this (with such fab teachers) closer to us.”

Why the ramp matters

This isn’t just any mobile ramp. It’s a symbol of love, remembrance, and hope.

It was donated by a mum in memory of her son, Lewis, who sadly took his own life. Lewis and a friend saved their pocket money from a paper round to buy it.

Now, it travels with us, bringing skateboarding to new places, keeping his spirit alive. It’s part of our mission — Dropping in for Lewis — to make kids feel welcome, encouraged, and celebrated.

Whenever the ramp is hired for an event, we donate 10% of the fee to the Ben Gamers Foundation, supporting mental health initiatives for young people.

Want to hire the ramp for your event? Email us. Let’s spread the love even further.

Summer BBQ!

The weekend before, we held our Summer BBQ at The Skate Farm — and what a vibe it was!

🌭 We fired up the grill, rolled out the picnic rugs, and opened up the Farm Garden, where parents could chill in the sunshine, catch up with friends, or lounge in the hammocks.

🎉 The highlight? Our long-awaited Skate Farm puppy name reveal! After dozens of suggestions and votes, the winning name was…Trixie - And honestly? It suits her perfectly.

Trixie’s already become a calming presence at the park. Just like our Posca Wall, she helps visitors (young and old) regulate, relax, and feel safe. Sometimes a puppy cuddle is all it takes to brighten someone’s entire day.
