Behind the scenes at Skate Farm

May 3, 2025

Skate Farm isn’t just a bunch of ramps and a coffee shop. It’s a living, breathing community — and behind it all is a crew that genuinely loves what they do. From opening up in the morning to cheering on the last rider of the day, here’s a look at what really happens behind the scenes.

Meet Tom — the heart of the farm

Tom doesn’t just run the Farm — he is the Farm. From teaching kids to fix their stance to organizing parties and cleaning up after a packed weekend, he’s everywhere. His vision has always been to create more than a skatepark — he wanted to build a place where people felt safe, welcomed, and encouraged to grow.

Early starts, smooth surfaces

Before the first session of the day, there’s work to be done. We sweep, check the ramps, reset gear, and make sure everything’s safe and ready. Even little things — like adjusting padding or checking wheels on hire gear — make a big difference to your experience.

Coaching with care

Our instructors don’t just teach tricks — they build confidence. Every lesson is tailored to the rider, and behind every small win is a whole lot of encouragement and support. What looks like a simple high five is often the result of weeks of progress.

The chill zone matters too

While the ramps are buzzing, the chill-out area and coffee shop are part of the magic. Parents get a space to relax, younger siblings have room to watch, and everyone can grab a bite or a drink. It’s where community conversations happen — off the board, but still part of the ride.

Cleaning, cake, and community

After hours, it’s cleanup time — but also party prep, birthday cake pickups, or last-minute board repairs. No two days are the same. One moment we’re checking session bookings, the next we’re hanging streamers for a party crew.
